I received the new 1000 Naira note today from a POS operator. But when I tried to purchase something with it or pay for a service, it was #rejected. At the gym, in a supermarket and by a taxi driver. I was shocked.

They all refused to take it! I almost regretted accepting it from the POS agent.

This is the new note the government has approved and are set to phase out the old bills by Janurary. When I asked their reason they said “no reason” other than they still prefer the old note. Only the taxi guy offered a reason: “it looks fake” he had said.
