Nigerian Lawmakers Urge Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo to Revoke Airstrip License of Bishop David Oyedepo’s Living Faith Church

Nigeria’s House of Representatives has ordered the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace to stop issuing airstrip licenses to private individuals and organizations due to security concerns.

This decision was made after Rep. Sulaiman Gumi introduced a motion, highlighting potential security risks. Gumi cited the example of a private jet seized in South Africa with $9.3 million in cash for arms purchase.

Lawmakers worry that private airstrips could facilitate illegal importation of firearms, ammunition, and hard drugs, exacerbating Nigeria’s security challenges.
