In 2004, Abdulrasheed Bawa became an Assistant Detective Superintendent (ADS) with the EFCC. He was named to lead the commission’s inquiry against Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, and her accomplices in October 2015. He’s worked on cases including advance fee fraud, official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering, and other offences. He is the EFCC’s youngest chairman to date.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Financial Crime Enforcement Network (FINCEN), and the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) all trained him (UNODC).
He has successfully investigated and testified in prosecution of several instances leading to convictions and the recovery of plundered funds while serving as the EFCC zonal head of Portharcourt Zonal Office and Lagos Zonal Office.
From 2015 until 2019, he oversaw Mrs. Diezani Allison-investigations, Madueke’s which resulted in the recovery of millions of cash and assets.
