Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) is a Nigerian politician who was born on March 29, 1952, in Lagos State, Nigeria. He is best known for his role as the former Governor of Lagos State, where he served two terms from 1999 to 2007.
Tinubu began his political career in the early 1990s, when he was elected to the Senate of Nigeria. He quickly rose to prominence as he always agitate for good governance during the Nigeria’s military government, and he played a key role in the country’s transition to democracy in 1999.
After his election as Governor of Lagos State in 1999, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu quickly set about implementing a series of reforms aimed at improving the state’s infrastructure and economy. He oversaw the construction of new roads, bridges, and other infrastructure projects, and he also worked to attract foreign investment to the state.
During his time as Governor, Tinubu also played a key role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a political party that has since become one of the largest and most influential in Nigeria. He contested for the position of the Presidency under the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Saturday, February 25, 2023 where he won and became the President-Elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was conferred with the honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on the 25th March, 2023 by the sitting President, H.E Mohamed Buhari.
